In the presence of Mr. Sidad Barzani, representing President Masoud Barzani, the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Erbil hosted a reception commemorating the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, marking an important occasion in the country's history.
The ceremony provided an opportunity to celebrate Türkiye's National Day and reaffirm the longstanding relations, close neighbourly ties, and shared interests between the Republic of Türkiye and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
During the reception, Mr. Erman Topçu, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Erbil, and Mr. Safeen Dizayee, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government, delivered remarks highlighting the importance of the relationship between Türkiye and the Kurdistan Region. Both emphasized the value of continued dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation in further strengthening bilateral relations.
The longstanding relationship between Türkiye and the Kurdistan Region is rooted in geographical proximity, historical connections, economic interdependence, and shared interests in regional peace, security, and stability. Over the years, cooperation in trade, investment, energy, transportation, and cultural exchange has contributed to closer ties and created valuable opportunities for both sides.
