The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Foreign Relations Office extends its warmest congratulations to the people of Kurdistan on the long-awaited resumption of the meetings of the Kurdistan Parliament, following more than two years of political deadlock. The resumption of parliamentary proceedings, with the participation of a parliamentary majority, represents an important step towards restoring the effective functioning of democratic institutions, strengthening political accountability, and reaffirming the principles of parliamentary democracy in the Kurdistan Region.
We also extend our sincere congratulations to the newly elected Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Secretary of the Kurdistan Parliament for its sixth parliamentary term. We wish them every success in fulfilling their constitutional and institutional responsibilities and express our hope that their leadership will contribute to strengthening parliamentary cooperation, promoting constructive dialogue, and ensuring that Parliament effectively serves all the people of Kurdistan.
We sincerely hope that this significant development will mark the beginning of a new chapter of political responsibility, constructive dialogue, and institutional cooperation. It is essential that all parliamentary blocs and representatives rise above political differences, place the interests of the people of Kurdistan at the forefront of their priorities, and fulfil the constitutional and democratic responsibilities entrusted to them.
At this particularly critical and challenging juncture, the Kurdistan Region faces mounting political, economic, financial, and security pressures, alongside complex developments in Iraq and the wider Middle East. These circumstances demand unity, political maturity, institutional resilience, and a strong sense of collective responsibility. The Kurdistan Parliament must play its rightful and effective role in addressing these challenges, safeguarding the constitutional rights and entitlements of the Kurdistan Region, strengthening democratic governance, and supporting efforts to protect the stability, security, and economic well-being of our people.
We reaffirm our hope that the reactivation of Parliament will contribute to overcoming political divisions, facilitating the formation of a new Kurdistan Regional Government, and reinforcing the unity of Kurdistan's political institutions. Above all, Parliament must remain a strong and responsible voice in defending the legitimate rights, dignity, aspirations, and future of the people of Kurdistan.
