President Barzani Receives the Consul General of Italy in Erbil

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, President Masoud Barzani received Mr. Tommaso Sansone, the Consul General of Italy in Erbil.

During the meeting, the Italian Consul General in Erbil made reference to President Barzani’s visit to Rome in January of this year. He also highlighted the historical relations between Italy and the Kurdistan Region, reaffirming his country’s desire to deepen the bonds of friendship and bilateral cooperation between the two sides.

Furthermore, the meeting encompassed discussions on the political climate and the latest security developments in the region, in addition to the relations between the new Iraqi Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.

The situation in Syria and the peace process in Turkey were also key topics addressed during the discussions.
