KDP Delegation Participates in the 13th ICAPP General Assembly in South Korea

Seoul, 4–7 November 2026

At the official invitation of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), a delegation from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Foreign Relations Office, comprising Mr. Abdulsalam Zebari, Head of the Eurasia Desk, and Ms. Dilshin Mirani, participated in the 13th ICAPP General Assembly, held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, from 4 to 7 November 2026, under the theme “Rebuilding Trust in a Changing World.”

As part of the Assembly’s proceedings, the KDP delegation delivered two presentations focusing on the importance of trust in political relations and the role of media in strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation among political parties.

In the first presentation, the delegation highlighted the importance of building bilateral and multilateral trust as a fundamental pillar for achieving peace, stability, and peaceful coexistence. The presentation also introduced the history, identity, struggle, and legitimate aspirations of the Kurdish people, emphasising the importance of respecting national and cultural diversity, safeguarding the rights of peoples, and resolving disputes through dialogue and mutual understanding.

In this context, the delegation outlined the KDP’s policies and objectives regarding these principles and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peaceful dialogue, mutual respect, and constructive political engagement.

The delegation further stressed that greater international awareness and understanding of the Kurdish question, alongside support for the legitimate rights and aspirations of the Kurdish people, could make a meaningful contribution to strengthening trust, peace, and stability across the region.

In the second presentation, the delegation addressed the role of the KDP’s media institutions in communicating factual information, raising awareness of the Kurdish question, and conveying the voices and aspirations of the people of Kurdistan to regional and international audiences.

The presentation emphasised the significance of responsible and professional media as an essential instrument for building bridges of communication, encouraging dialogue, strengthening mutual understanding, and fostering trust among political parties and peoples. It also highlighted the importance of countering misinformation and disinformation while promoting a culture of constructive dialogue, tolerance, and mutual respect.

Throughout the General Assembly, participants engaged in discussions on several key themes, including the promotion of sustainable peace and stability, strengthening democracy and good governance, harnessing artificial intelligence for shared development, addressing the challenges of climate change, and developing a common vision for expanding international cooperation and rebuilding trust.

The KDP delegation’s participation formed part of the ongoing efforts of the Foreign Relations Office to expand political and diplomatic engagement with international political parties and organisations, particularly across Asia, while strengthening international understanding of and support for the legitimate rights and aspirations of the people of Kurdistan.

The Assembly also provided an important platform for presenting the KDP’s perspectives and positions on national, regional, and international developments, while reaffirming the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and mutual trust as essential foundations for resolving disputes and maintaining peace and stability.

It is worth noting that this year’s General Assembly brought together more than 100 delegations representing political parties from across Asia. This broad participation provided the KDP delegation with valuable opportunities to hold bilateral meetings, strengthen political relations, exchange views on matters of mutual interest, and discuss the latest developments in the Middle East, including the position of the Kurdistan Region amid ongoing regional tensions and geopolitical challenges.

During these engagements, the KDP delegation reiterated the Party’s position that the Kurdistan Region and its people are not parties to regional conflicts and should not become involved in them. The delegation reaffirmed the importance of preserving the Kurdistan Region’s security and stability, maintaining peaceful relations, and pursuing dialogue and diplomatic engagement as the appropriate means of addressing regional challenges.
